Dr. Melissa Butler

Chartered Counselling Psychologist

I am a chartered psychologist (CPsychol) accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have over 15 years’ experience working within the mental health field, in a variety of settings, including NHS, local government, charity, corporate and private sectors. Such diversity has afforded me with ample experience supporting individuals and a variety of organisations with a range of problems.

I have extensive experience working with a wide range of problems, including: stress, bereavement, depression, anxiety-related difficulties, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), low self-esteem, relationship and psycho-sexual issues. I also specialise in addictions, young people/families within social care and race/cultural considerations.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate (DPsych) in Counselling Psychology
  • Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Mentalisation-Based Therapy (MBT) for adolescents & families
  • Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)
  • Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to the qualifications
